[EzineArticles] Article Content vs. Real Life - Quality Linking

Article Content vs. Real Life - Quality Linking EzineArticles.com Logo

The series where questionable article writing practices are brought into the real world.

Visitors expect fast-loading and easily-navigable pages that are bursting with rich, relevant content. With these qualities, visitors will explore your website (including your products or services).

Meet Jessica and Andrew in the 13th episode of the Article Content vs. Real Life series. As a new team member, Jessica excels in her expertise, but she's still getting to know the ins and outs of the company layout (e.g. where office supplies are located).

In this episode, discover how Jessica's search for a stapler is similar to a visitor clicking-through to a blog or website in 5 discouraging (and even scary) scenarios.

Article Content vs. Real Life - Episode 13 Recap

Box 1 - Parked Page

Finding an empty box is like sending your readers to a parked page or a page without content. Ensure your links are active and there's always quality content available for your readers.

Box 2 - Broken Links

Whether it's a broken stapler or a broken link, both lead to user frustration. Test your links to make sure they work in order to drive traffic to your website.

Box 3 - Irrelevant Links

Always link to websites that provide rich, relevant content, not to a box filled with unrelated junk. Make sure your links relate to your article to provide a quality user experience.

Box 4 - Lacks Quality

Appearances are everything. Readers won't want to visit a website that's full of ads, has poor navigation, and lacks quality content. Always provide value that benefits your readers.

Box 5 - Malware

Don't put your readers (or their technology) in danger. Ensure your links don't lead to malicious software or Malware that could be potentially harmful.

Box 6 - QUALITY!

Meeting your audience's expectations by providing a quality website will encourage readers to stick around and discover more about you, your credibility, and your products or services. Increase your credibility and authority in your niche by providing highly relevant, rich content!

[EzineArticles] 10 Outstanding Qualities of Great Landing Pages

10 Outstanding Qualities of Great Landing Pages EzineArticles.com Logo

Want to Gain Your Reader's Trust and Increase Your Credibility?

Let's say you're piloting a small airplane to a vacation hotspot. Your passengers expect you to land the plane safely and without incident.

In your articles, readers have the same expectations when they click on your links.

Meet their expectations to gain their trust, increase your conversion rate, and build your credibility by ensuring their landing and stay on your website or blog is outstanding.

10 Traits of Quality Landing Pages (and Websites Too!)

  1. Relevance: The most stellar quality is the relevance a landing page has to the article or page from which the user arrived. This is also critical when search engines are taken into consideration. Like you, search engines must ensure a good user experience by providing search results relevant to the user's search query. Hence, your content is indexed by relevance and potentially booted when irrelevant.

  2. Navigation: Ease of use and intuitive navigation are paramount. Skip frustrating methods like exit pop-ups or other methods that either prevent or delay the user from leaving your website. Let fresh content be your main attraction to keep visitors on site and encourage their return.

  3. Transparency: Create an "About Us" page. Illustrate the who, what, where, when, and why of your business or service and include pictures of the key members of your business. Be transparent and include background information on your company to build trust.

  4. FAQ: Develop a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page to anticipate questions about any products, services, etc. you provide. This will help leverage your credibility and you will become a point of reference for your audience.

  5. Blog: Establish a blog to increase your exposure, as well as give your visitors insight into the personality of you or your business. Putting a face and tone to your name is a great way to establish a relationship with your visitors.

  6. Opt-In: Give visitors a reason to return and stay in touch with you and your business or service with a stationary opt-in to build a list of subscribers for newsletters or alerts to new posts, ebooks, specials, etc.

  7. Shop: If you have products for sale on your site:

    • Safety: Ensure a safe payment method. Anytime credit card information is requested, consumers are naturally suspicious. Try trusted brands, such as PayPal.
    • Security: Obtain rights to include security seals from reputable online consumer protection programs such as the Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, and/or SSL certificate providers to ensure further protection.
    • Service: Include a customer service contact form or contact link to ensure visitors can ask questions or provide comments/concerns.
    • Quality: Include high-quality images of your products; take it a step further with close-ups and size comparisons if appropriate.
    • Transparent: Clearly document your Return and Refund Policy.

  8. Feedback: Provide a page where visitors can post feedback and reviews. Reviews and feedback will ultimately further your credibility and increase audience participation.

  9. Content: Related to 1 and 5, providing unique and relevant content is key to building a loyal audience (and loyal customers), as well as improving your ranking with search engines. Be consistent and informative by providing fresh content on a regular basis.

  10. Overall: Consider the overall aesthetics. Compare your website to websites you've visited - both credible and dubious. Does your site look credible? Does it work properly? If not, establish an overall well-designed, user-friendly, and trustworthy website. Trust is everything!

Visitors expect an easily navigable, rich, relevant, quality link. Help make their landing safe by using these 10 outstanding qualities to great landing pages and websites.

As of today, I have written and published 234 articles. Those articles have been read over 19,400 times at EzineArticles. Bloggers and editors from other companies can request to publish these articles elsewhere. I have 284 of those publishers... What is surprising to me about that 19,400 number is that I write about MATHEMATICS! This is not a high demand category! Give this lots of thought. If this math person can write articles, YOU can write articles! Share your knowledge.

[EzineArticles] Make Writing Easy with Prewriting

Make Writing Easy with Prewriting EzineArticles.com Logo

Be Prepared to Pack Value in Your Articles

Successful articles are a combination of your expertise and creativity. Many Expert Authors attempt to save time by skipping creativity altogether. The effect can be likened to packing for a trip to Antarctica at the last minute. Without the necessary equipment and supplies to withstand the South Pole's temperatures, you may just end up blindly packing anything and missing critical items.

Creating checklists (e.g. what to pack to stay warm) or brainstorming potential scenarios you may encounter (e.g. penguin photography) will help ensure not only your survival, but a good experience too!

Checklists, outlines, brainstorming, etc. all connect to an often overlooked practice known as prewriting.

Prewriting occurs before writing, proofreading, and editing. When done effectively, prewriting makes writing so easy - all you have to do is add a little polish here and a transition there and voila! Your article is ready for submission.

Here's a great prewriting exercise to build your article writing momentum and infuse your creativity into your next set of quality original articles.

1. TARGET

Always consider your audience. Write down the answers to the following questions and post it near your writing space where you can easily refer to it:

  • Who's your target audience?
  • What are the demographics of your audience?
  • What do they do?
  • What are their needs and their wants?
  • What do they already know about your niche?
  • What about your niche is their perception skewed in?
  • What characteristics or goals do you have in common with your audience?

Tip: Identifying your target will go a long way in ensuring you meet your audience's needs and write for their benefit, which means more traffic to your blog or website.

2. FOCUS

What's your next idea? Narrow the topic you would like to tackle next. If it's a fairly broad topic, attempt to break it into a series of topics and save those for later. A good measure to determine if your topic is too broad is whether you can describe it in one or two words. For instance, a topic such as "quitting smoking" is way too broad. However, "determining age as factor in selecting a smoking cessation method" is much more focused.

Tip: Narrow broad topics or brainstorm ideas by considering the angle with which you approach the topic (click here for 10 angles), as well as with keyword research.

3. GATHERING and RESEARCH

Begin jotting down what you already know about your focused topic and then research any fuzzy areas. Use relevance to your article topic as your guide to ensure you don't include superfluous information.

Tip: During the gathering phase, consider posing simple who, what, where, when, why, and how questions against your focused topic to help unlock information.

4. OUTLINE

Create an outline including all of the core details or logic of your article topic. From your outline you can easily add transitions and polish, and voila - an article!

Tip: Outlines are amazingly simple using article templates (try our article templates by clicking here).

Rather than stuffing your article at the last minute, get organized and create an environment that increases your productivity. Try this prewriting exercise today!

Thanks so much for the great publicity. I was amazed at how many articles I already had written when I started digging out all my old notes and speeches. It just took a little reformatting, bringing up to date and filling in here and there to have them ready to send off to you. Even though we are swamped with projects, the positive effects of passive income and name recognition is well worth the effort. Keep up the good work.

[EzineArticles] Quick Quiz Article Template

Quick Quiz Article Template EzineArticles.com Logo

How Do You Use Article Templates?

a. A general idea gets me started, I go from there with my own formatting
b. Only when I have a case of writer's block
c. As a basic guide, but I sometimes deviate from that
d. I follow them "to a T"
e. Depending on the day, all of the above

No matter how you answer this question, the Quick Quiz Article Template was made for you!

Many Expert Authors have found great success with this template because it provides a great hook for readers. The format is based on posing a question to your readers and explaining their choices in a clear and concise format.

Posing a question with answers is also a great way to turn a mundane topic into something more engaging and exciting. You can show off a bit of your personality by adding a humorous option, or choose a set of answers that are all correct.

Writing Your Quick Quiz Article

  • Develop a Question - To pick a question for the article, you might start out by thinking of common questions you've heard before. If you already have articles about that topic, dig deeper into your niche or try to get more creative with a question that tackles your area of expertise in a new way.

  • Pick Appropriate Answers - Choose multiple choice answers to offer your audience. Embed your preferred answers in the choices. You can also choose to offer a variety of answers that could all be correct.

  • Explain Why Each Answer Is Right/Wrong - Devote at least a sentence or two to each answer. If you're trying to explain how to do something, devote more space to that answer. If you're trying to explain how not to do something, devote space to that as well.

  • Share What the Correct Answer Means for Your Niche - Conclude by explaining more about what the answer means for your niche. Share whether the answer is a fact or based on your opinion to be more transparent and reflect your credibility as an expert in your niche.

Discover how you can write fun and engaging articles your audience will love by using this template today. Let us know how it worked for you by visiting this post online.

[EzineArticles] Common Article Writing Roadblocks: 2nd Edition

Common Article Writing Roadblocks: 2nd Edition EzineArticles.com Logo

5 Tips to Safely Steer Clear of Poor Keyword Usage and Keyword Abuse

Increasing the volume of pre-qualified traffic to your blog or website and building credibility can't be done overnight. And when you're strapped for time, you want the easiest method to get the job done fast.

Some recommended methods may look easy and claim big results. The reality is many of these quick and easy methods may be sabotaging your efforts.

One such method: Throwing keywords aimlessly at content.

In the second edition of our Common Article Writing Roadblocks video series, discover the top 5 roadblocks associated with poor keyword usage and keyword abuse!

Downloadable Versions:
WMV Format     MOV Format     MV4 Format     MP3 Format

Quick Recap of the Poor Keyword Usage and Keyword Abuse Roadblocks!

1. Stuffing Keywords
Limit yourself to 2 keywords or keyword phrases for every 100 words.

2. Bolded Keywords
Save bolded keywords for headers or when it's stylistically correct to emphasize.

3. Excessive Keywords
Ensure your keywords provide informative value and are relevant to your article topic.

4. Misspelled/Grammatically Incorrect Keywords
Write content naturally and proofread your articles thoroughly.

5. Variations of Keywords
Focus on writing for your readers and avoid adding dashes, commas, or spaces to keyword phrases (unless grammatically correct).

Always provide quality, informative content that targets readers, not search engines. Without the proper incorporation (and moderation) of keywords, throwing keywords at articles will damage your credibility and readers will be less inclined to click-through to your blog or website.

Maintain your credibility and increase trust with your readers by incorporating keywords moderately in your next set of quality, original articles!
